'Bella Vita' tattoo was inked during Caylee's disappearance
Casey Anthony trial: State wrapping up its case, paving way for defense to present its side Thursday.
State expected to rest its case Wednesday.
Prosecutors came one step closer to wrapping up their first-degree murder case against Casey Anthony this afternoon, but said they would admit two pieces of evidence Wednesday.
The state is expected to rest its case Wednesday, and then the defense will begin to present its side on Thursday.
The state called several witnesses Tuesday, ranging from an Orange County crime scene investigator to the artist who tattooed "Bella Vita" on Anthony's back during the summer of 2008 when her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie was gone.
Tattoo artist Bobby Williams said Casey Anthony had the tattoo, meaning 'Beautiful Life,' done on her back a few weeks after Caylee went missing.
Williams said Casey Anthony didn't mention her daughter until she made another appointment to bring a friend into the tattoo parlor.
She told Williams that Caylee would be there, but that she was with the nanny at the time.
More sidebars today
Attorneys and Chief Judge Belvin Perry spend a good deal of the time meeting in sidebar, discussing the tattoo evidence.
At the end of Williams' testimony, defense attorney Cheney Mason asked for a mistrial based on the heart-shaped sticker evidence and the video that showed Caylee's face morphing into a skull with a piece of duct tape superimposed over the mouth.
Perry denied the request for a mistrial.
More forensic testimony from FBI and Orange County Sheriff's Office investigators, including DNA testing of hair samples and discovery of heart-shaped stickers, dominated today's proceedings in the first-degree murder trial.
Cindy Anthony gets emotional on stand
Cindy Anthony, the mother of accused child killer, also testified about her own hair, the hair of her daughter and also from Caylee and her great-grandmother.
State prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick also showed Cindy Anthony several pictures of canvas bags, duct tape, and black plastic bags from her own home. Sheriff's and FBI investigators identified similar items recovered in the wooded area near the Anthony home where Caylee's remains were discovered.
Cindy Anthony became emotional when Burdick showed her a picture of Caylee wearing a pink T-shirt with the phrase "Big Trouble Comes in Small Packages." Those phrases were found with Caylee skeletal remains on Dec. 11, 2008.
She testified that she had never seen that shirt at her home. The first time she saw it was in the photograph where Caylee is sitting with her mother Casey Anthony on a couch at her friend's apartment was in a 2009 deposition.
Anthony, 25, is accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie Anthony in the summer of 2008. Caylee's remains were found in woods near her family's east Orange County home in December of that year.
Duct tape, canvas bags
Cindy Anthony recalled duct tape in the house, including black and blue and maybe silver tape. The tape was kept in the garage, she said.
She also identified canvas bags from a photo that resembled a canvas bag found at the recovery scene. She said similar bags were used to store Caylee's items such as balls, dolls and toys.
