Amber Harris: Still Waiting In The Dark

New details tonight in the disappearance of 12-year-old Amber Harris, the North Omaha girl who has been missing for nearly three weeks.

After chasing several leads, Omaha police are now looking for federal help to find Amber Harris.

Omaha Police Chief Thomas Warren says, “We have asked for the assistance of the FBI behavioral analysis unit to assist us.”

Police also released new information about case, including video from Amber's bus ride home the day she went missing.

In the video, Amber talks with the bus driver, and wipes her face. Her parents believe she was taking off make up she isn't allowed to wear.

Amber later goes to the back of the bus with the other students and stays there for several minutes. Just before getting off the bus, she talks to the driver again and asks to be dropped off with another boy. She leaves the bus with the other student at about 5:41 p.m.

When Amber got off the bus near Kountze Park, police say she headed south and then east which police believe means she was headed home.

Chief Warren says, “We can't say definitively that she's in the company of anyone, one would suggest that someone would have had to assist a 12-year-old to sustain her for three weeks.”

By releasing this information today, police hope more leads will be generated.

Amber's parents say they appreciate the police's efforts, and hope the latest details bring their daughter home.

Amber was last seen wearing a black and white jacket with jeans and tennis shoes. If you have any information call the Omaha Police at (402) 444-5636.
