Teresa Halbach: Steven Avery and possible accomplices
CHILTON, WI -- A special prosecutor says charges filed against Steven Avery today or tomorrow will be limited to first-degree intentional homicide and mutilation of a corpse.
But, Calumet County District Attorney Ken Kratz says other people may be charged in the disappearance and death of Teresa Halbach.
Kratz tells the Green Bay Press-Gazette that evidence pending at the state Crime Lab may implicate possible accomplices.
Sheriff Jerry Pagel says the investigation of the Avery Salvage Yard near Mishicot has ended. Avery's brother, Chuck, said last night he and his family are back on the property. Chuck Avery says he doesn't know when he and his brother Earl will resume the salvage business their dad started 40 years ago.
Kratz worked the weekend on drafting a criminal complaint on the homicide charges against Steven Avery. The 43-year-old Avery already faces an appearance tomorrow in Manitowoc County Circuit Court on a charge of possessing a gun as a felon.
Avery is the man exonerated of a rape two years ago and set free from prison, where he had spent 18 years. It was D-N-A that exonerated him in that case, and D-N-A that implicated him in the murder of Teresa Halbach, a woman who was taking pictures of vehicle on the Avery property.
