Family, Neighbors Saddened By Fayette Girl's Death

FAYETTE, Maine

14-year old Marlee Johnston left her home on Saturday, to walk the two family dogs. She never came back.

Marlee Johnston's parents describe her as the perfect daughter. She was kind and warm, fun. A great athlete and an even better student. Her family is shattered by her death.

Marlee had left the house to walk the dogs on Saturday afternoon. Shortly thereafter, a neighbor called to say one of the dogs was wandering. Marlee's dad went to look for her and found her body in the shallow water of Lovejoy Pond.

The murder has stunned this tight knit community. A memorial service will be held for Marlee Johnston at three pm on Thursday at Kent's Hill School.

At this point, state police are saying very little about the ongoing investigation.
