Olamide Adeyooye News: Detainee Questioned in Adeyooye Death

Newscenter 11 [wtok.com] has learned that Normal, Illinois, resident Maurice Wallace was arrested in Atlanta on Oct. 20, seven days after Olamide Adeyooye went missing, and three days after a fire in Lake, Miss., burned her body.

Wallace is in jail on charges unrelated to the case, but investigators admit he will probably be questioned in relation to the murder.

We've also learned that Wallace's Normal, Ill., apartment was searched by police there. From that apartment, you can apparently see Adeyooye's apartment. Her friends say Wallace hung around them a lot, but they didn't consider him dangerous.

In Newton County, investigators continue to pour over evidence that might help solve this mystery.

An autopsy didn't reveal the cause of Adeyooye's death. Delores Lewis of the Mississippi Highway Patrol said the autopsy performed Oct.21 was inconclusive.

"We're still talking to people who may have leads into this investigation," said Newton County Sheriff Jackie Knight.

But so far, that hasn't turned up much. No one in Lake has come forward to say they saw anything the night of the fire.

"They did it quietly. Got in, got out, without being seen," said Knight.

Normal, Ill., investigators have asked the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation to do an aerial search of the area around where the fire happened, in hopes of finding Olamide's car. They say that would be a vital piece of information that would help them in solving this case.
