Man Convicted Of Sex Crimes Against Children Faces Victims' Families
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A South Florida man convicted and sentenced for sex crimes against children came face-to-face with the family members of his victims in court on Friday.
Adam Knoll, 30, was arrested in September 2004 and was later convicted of repeatedly sexually assaulting two 8-year-old boys in Cooper City and possessing child pornography in his Davie home.
In court on Friday, Knoll offered no apology for his actions. He has accepted a plea deal that prevented his victims from testifying at trial but will send him to prison for the next 40 years.
"I still love and care for you all, but I know that you hate me and wish I was dead. It just breaks my heart, but I know you are angry," Knoll said.
In a rare move, the judge allowed Knoll's mother to hug him as the victims' families watched.
Before the sentencing Friday, one of the boys' mother and grandmother spoke their minds in court.
"'Sexual predator' is the only word that can describe the grotesque animal that committed these acts, for he does not even deserve to be considered a human being, or part of the human race, for these hateful and hurtful crimes against our children," one victim's mother said.
"I will see to it until the day I die that you will be known as Adam Knoll, the child pedophile," one victim's grandmother said.
Prosecutors said they fear that there could be other victims out there, because Knoll has lived in South Florida for so long.
