Police Hope Missing Teen Still Alive

Girl Last Seen With Convicted Sex Offender

MIAMI -- Police are looking for a missing 15-year-old girl whose family fears may have been talking to sexual predators over the Internet.

"I knew it wasn't good from the beginning," Joy Nembhard said. "I hear from people and I hear on the news there's nothing good in the chat rooms for young girls ... I'm worried sick. I can't function like this. I'm going to lose my mind because she doesn't know anything about a big city."

Investigators said Erin Nembhard crawled out of her bedroom window with a suitcase filled with clothes and a book bag late Friday.

She drove off with a man whom she had met in an Internet chat room.

The man, 21-year-old Eduardo Narvaez, first drove Nembhard to his Miami residence before taking her to the home of Corey Witty, a convicted sex offender.

Narvaez was arrested on Wednesday for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and harboring a runaway, both misdemeanors.

Witty, 35, admitted that Nembhard spent nearly two days with him, but insists she left his Miami-Dade County home unharmed around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, investigators said.

Witty's neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told NBC 6 he saw the two together. "Yes, she left with him," he said.

"I got scared because I always see him there but we never knew he was a sex offender," resident Luz Caballero said.

Witty was arrested Sunday on unrelated charges of failing to register as a sex offender in Miami-Dade County. He has not been named as a suspect in Nembhard's disappearance.

Miami-Dade police are posting fliers across the county in hopes of finding Nembhard. Anyone with information should call 1-888-FL-MISSING.
