Fawley termed 'a flight risk;' Will be held in jail
A Richmond judge ruled this morning that Ben Fawley, 38, should stay in jail until his October 31st preliminary hearing on child pornography charges. Prosecutors successfully argued Fawley presented “a flight risk.”
They noted he has admitted an intimate relationship with 17 year old Taylor Behl, missing since early this month from her dorm room at VCU. They argued his status as a “person of interest’ in that case, plus online communication suggesting he might leave Virginia, meant he should not be released on bond.
The prosecutors also argued they have more evidence against Fawley and that that evidence could lead to additional charges.
Fawley currently faces 16 counts of possession of child pornography. Authorities say they found at least 30 pornographic movie files on Fawley’s computers, involving ‘shocking sexual acts,’ some with children as young as one and two years old.
Taylor Behl’s mother, Janet Pelasara, was pleased by the court decision today.
“He’s a sick man,” she said. “Does he know more about where Taylor is? Has he done something with her? Is he holding her somewhere? You know, I don’t know. These are just my, you know, guesses.”
Fawley seemed frustrated and upset as he left the courtroom following the judge’s decision.
