Teacher Aide Arrested for Sexual Misconduct
Indianapolis -- A former South Bend teacher's aide is in jail today accused of stripping naked in a classroom and of having sexual contact with some middle school students.
27-year old, Schmeca White, is being held in the St. Joseph County jail on $10,000 bond.
She's charged with nine criminal counts, including child molesting, sexual misconduct and criminal deviate conduct. White is accused of having sexual contact with seven students at Green Intermediate School in South Bend.
The children were boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 15. White was supervising the children in a classroom during their teacher's lunch period. South Bend Community Schools Spokeswoman, Judy Tolvey says the classroom was not isolated and officials aren't certain how the alleged abuse could have occurred.
