Convicted Child Molester Sentenced To 873 Years
BERNALILLO, N.M. -- A former Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center officer has been sentenced to 873 years in jail for sexually molesting a female relative.
Martin Gonzales, 40, of Rio Rancho, was sentenced Friday by state District Judge George Eichwald.
A Sandoval County jury convicted Gonzales in January of more than 180 felony charges, including criminal sexual penetration of a minor under the age of 13.
The charges stemmed from the molestation of a girl during a nine-year period.
The teenager testified that the sexual abuse began when she was 6 or 7 years old, and Gonzales began having sex with her when she was 9 or 10.
