Man to face child sex charge

A man facing child abuse charges in the severe injury of his infant son has been charged with sexual assault of a 7-year-old.
James Earl Thomas, 34, of the 1200 block of Wisconsin Avenue, Beloit, was charged Friday with sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, felony bail jumping and failure to update sex offender information.
Thomas is accused of molesting the child while on bond awaiting charges of first degree recklessly causing great bodily harm to a child for allegedly shaking of his 23-day old son in January, causing severe injuries.
The baby's mother, Holly L. Cartwright, 25, was charged with failure to prevent bodily harm to a child.
