Couple Arrested On Numerous Child Sexual Assault Charges

Prosecutors: Case Involves 6 Of Couple's 9 Children

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- A Loveland couple have been arrested on child sexual assault charges in a decade-old case involving six of their nine children, prosecutors said.

Dawn Triggs and James Triggs face child sexual assault charges in Fort Collins.

James Triggs, 35, and Dawn Triggs, 29, were jailed Thursday on charges of sexual assault on a child, sexual exploitation of a child and pattern of abuse, Larimer County district attorney's spokeswoman Linda Jensen said.

James Triggs faces 17 counts and Dawn Triggs faces nine. Bail was set at $750,000 each.

Few details were released, but prosecutor said the alleged abuse took place in 1994 and 1995.

Authorities did not release the ages or whereabouts of the children, nor would they comment on why the charges were filed nine years after the last alleged incident.

"It's a very complicated, involved case that involves a lot of follow-up," Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden said.

The case was turned over the District Attorney's Office some time ago but Alderden said that additional work needed to be done before any arrests were made.

The District Attorney's Office refused to release arrest affidavits and a spokeswoman said it would be up to the court to decide what information should be released about the case.
