By Elizabeth Simpson, The Virginian-Pilot -- August 13, 2004
A state Health Department report released Thursday found that 25 percent of Virginians questioned in a survey said they were sexually assaulted as children.
The survey included interviews with 1,769 women and 705 men in late 2002 and early 2003. Forty-three percent of victims identified their perpetrators as family members. Only 10 percent of the victims reported the crime to law enforcement.
